Looking for new tips and ideas about living with diabetes? if so, this class is for you! Healthy Living with Diabetes is a six week class to help adults living with Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or who live with someone that does. In this weekly interactive class people will learn to set goals, problem-solve, improve blood sugar, make healthy food choices, and discover new solutions to live well. You're invited to be the Judge for this annual benefit for Shirley's House of Hope! Watch as local chefs face off in a culinary contest and you'll get to task and evaluate each contender's appetizer for the People's Choice Award. A full meal will be prepared by Steve Tollers, Marshfield Iron Chef winner. This event also includes a silent and live auction.
Competing chefs are as follows: Chef Ron from The Vintage House, Chef Matt from Holiday Inn, Chef Wally from Hotel Marshfield, and Chef Max from West 14th Catering & Special Events.
Tickets are $60 per person, $480 for a table of 8, and can be purchased online at www.shirleyshouseofhope.org (no sales at the door).
Ruby's Pantry Food Distribution takes place on the 3rd Saturday every month and registration begins at 8 am with food distribution beginning at 9 am and going to approximately 10:30 am (or until the food is gone). Guests are asked to bring two large boxes or baskets per order. There is a requested donation of $20 per order. Items vary from month to month and are donated directly from manufacturers. In celebration of the 500 year anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, a fascinating movie about the live of Martin Luther will be shown at 327 S. Central Ave., Marshfield. This is a dramatic black & white classic film made in the 1950's. It was released in theaters worldwide and was nominated for two Academy Awards. In spite of its age, it continues to be a popular resource that has great spiritual impact.
