New Little Free Pantry Sites In Marshfield

Christ Lutheran Church is introducing a new initiative known as Little Free Pantry (LFP).

A Little Free Pantry is a manageable and tangible way to help address food insecurity in Marshfield and creates community through neighborhood engagement. It’s not meant to address an ongoing need but rather to offer direct and immediate relief. It may be a lifeline for those who need help with food to stretch until their next paycheck, if they’re unable to get to a store, or forgot an item at the store.

These modest cabinets are open all day, every day, self-serve with no paperwork or questions asked, stocked mostly with nonperishable foods by those who are able. There will be 4 LFP’s installed in Marshfield. One at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield Area United Way, Faith Lutheran Church and MACCI with hopes to add another at a southeast location in the future.

More information about products to donate can be found at littlefreepantry.org. Items must be shelf-stable (non-perishable), sealed and able to withstand flucuating temperatures. No glass please.

Volunteer Reception Center Spring Training

HELP ENSURE THAT OUR COMMUNITY IS READY FOR AN EMERGENCY!

Volunteer Reception Centers (VRC) are a critical component to managing spontaneous volunteer workforce in emergency response and recovery. When natural disasters occur, oftentimes people come from all over the country to offer their time and skills to help rebuild communities affected by the devastation. Volunteers come with diverse skills and ability levels and there is sometimes confusion as to how best to utilize these human resources. A VRC screens and organizes volunteers during this time to maximize the productivity of the generous people offering to help as well as keep communities safe during the recovery and rebuilding process.

We need your help in building a team of community members with the ability to work together and to turn a crowd of spontaneous volunteers into an asset and a workforce. Join us for the Volunteer Reception Center Spring Training to learn about this process, and, if you choose, become a member of this vital team.

To register call the office at 715.507.5005. Taking place on Tuesday, April 9th from 5 to 6:30pm at the Forward Bank Community Room (lower level).

Please note:  Anyone is invited to join this training. Anyone interested in joining the VRC team for north Wood County must attend the training, even if you have attended them in the past.
